Podgorica hosts two international wrestling tournaments
On Saturday, 6 June, Podgorica successfully hosted two international tournaments in the Olympic wrestling disciplines: Greco-Roman, freestyle and women’s wrestling.

The competition program opened with the international tournament “Podgorica Open”, intended for the youngest age groups U9, U11 and U13. It was followed by the Montenegro Cup, an open championship for the U15, U20 and senior age groups.
A total of nine clubs from Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina took part. Montenegro was represented by RK Perjanik Podgorica, RK Perjanici Nikšić, RK Brskovo Mojkovac and RK Zabjelo Podgorica. From Serbia, the participants were RK Crvena zvezda Belgrade, RK Žandarmerija Belgrade, RK Zmajevi Petrovac na Mlavi and RK Ljubomir Ivanović Gedža from Mladenovac, while Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by RK Sarajevo from Sarajevo.
An excellent sporting and friendly atmosphere prevailed throughout the day. The competition passed without a single incident, featuring a large number of quality matches, athletes socializing and good entertainment for everyone present.
Special attention from the audience was drawn by the exhibition matches held after the official part of the program. Among them, the team meeting between the national team wrestlers of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina in five weight categories stood out. After exciting and closely contested bouts, Bosnia and Herzegovina claimed victory by a score of 3:2.

The technical organization of both tournaments was entrusted to Wrestling Club Perjanik from Podgorica, which successfully completed all organizational activities and provided excellent competition conditions for all participants.
The Wrestling Federation of Montenegro extends special thanks to the Secretariat for Sport of the Capital City of Podgorica, which recognized the importance of this international sporting event and supported its organization. Thanks to that support, Podgorica once again confirmed its status as an important center for the development and promotion of wrestling in the region.
We also thank all clubs, coaches, athletes, referees, volunteers and friends of wrestling whose engagement contributed to the successful organization and realization of this sporting event, confirming that wrestling remains a sport that fosters friendship, mutual respect and fair play.
